The New England Patriots will definitely give Woodhead a couple carries here and there, but he will not be a major ctor in this game. Instead, you winfl projectionsll see them go to Green-Ellis and Stevan Ridley (if active) more often.

The defenses are going to have a hell of a time stopping the offenses in this game, which should make for one interesting Super Bowl Sunday. My major point of contention in predicting the New York Giants to win this game is the ct that the Patriots are going to have an incredibly hard time stopping their passing game.

After dominating on the outside in the Giants first two playoff wins this postseason, Nicks took a secondary role behind Victor Cruz in the NFC Championship Game. A lot of this had to do with an early shoulder injury that he suffered.

Make no mistake about it, Chad Ochocinco will come to play in the Super Bowl. This is a type of stage that has avoided the enigmatic receiver during his stellar career, and he will not pass up an opportunity to shine in it. Additionally, the Giants are going to be focusing their defensive coverage on Welker and the tight end combo, which will leave Chad open on the outside against one-on-one coverage.

That said, outside of Kyle Arrington, the Patriots secondary accounted for just nine interceptions. They are much less opportunistic than the opponents New York played in the NFC Playoffs.

He then compared the data to the actual choices made by NFL coaches.

ZEUS is a valuable addition to a coaching staff&8217;s tools, and one that can provide that elusive edge over the competition. The ZEUS engine is powerful enough to simulate the equivalent of every game played in the history of the NFL in less than a second. ZEUS can objectively assess crucial play-calling decisions with startling accuracy.

Soon after the Romer study, Indiana University scientist Chuck Bower and partners from the business world went one step further. Using a similar dataset of actual NFL games,they built ZEUS: a powerful computer program that can analyze in-game situations on the fly and provide high-volume data analysis to coaches in real time. Bower said:

Perhaps the decision makers are systematically imperfect maximizers. Many skills are more important to running a football team than a command of mathematical and statistical tools&8230;thus the decision makers may want to maximize their teams chances of winning, but rely on experience and intuition rather than formal analysis.

The evidence? Belichick is mous for his unconventional decision-, often opting to go for an aggressive play on fourth down when most coaches would punt or kick a field goal. TheNew York Times&8220;Fifth Down&8221; bloghas used ZEUSto evaluate real-world decisions on a number of occasions. And when ZEUS was used to analyze a particularly controversial fourth down call made by Belichickat the end of a crucial 2010 game against the Indianapolis Colts, he opted to go for it on his own 28-yard line, an unusually aggressive choiceZEUS surprised manyby saying he had, statistically, made the right call. The analysis indicated that, overall, it gave him team the best chance of winning.

Of course, statistical projections are not guarantees. In that case, the decision didn&8217;t work out, and the Patriots lost the game. But if Belichick does have ZEUS on his sideline, it might give him that much better odds of being the winning coach on Sunday.

This Super Bowl Sunday, as you watch grizzled coaches pace the sideline and bark at players, feel free to play armchair quarterbackor even head coach. Despite the hours they spend scouting players, analyzing game tape and drawing up complex tactical schemes, a pair of recent scientific studies indicates that many football coaches are no better at some in-game decisions than you or I would be.

One big clue is Dishs insistence on deploying an LTE-Advanced network in order to enter the market for the first time with the most advanced technology. Of course,LTE-Advanced was just finalized as a standardso Dish claims it will have to wait several years before commercial equipment is available.

Thats absolute malarkey.LTE-Advanced is an iteration of LTE technology, not a completely new network. Claiming that you must wait until LTE-Advanced equipment is available before building a network is kind of like insisting you cant move into a house before the shag carpeting is installed. Theres nothing stopping Dish from building an LTE network this year and evolving it into an LTE-Advanced network in 2013 or 2014.

AT&Ts motives may be self-serving, but maybe in this case its right. If it forces strict rollout guidelines on Dishs spectrum and then buys those licenses, we may actually get a new mobile broadband network rather than a bunch of operators whining about how they dont have the spectrum to build them.

The overly aggressive and unrealistic schedule AT&T advocates would likely set DISH up for ilure or force DISH into unvorable business arrangements with large Commercial Mobile Radio Service (CMRS) carriers.  It would erect artificial barriers to DISHs plan to construct a new mobile broadband network on its own or consideration of partnerships with smaller companies, and could threaten DISHs ability to roll out a retail service.  In short, an impracticably tight schedule would be a triple loss for consumers, the Commission, and DISH.

AT&T may seem like the bad guy here, but Dishs motives are just as suspect. In anFCC filling Thursday, Dish maintained it plans become a competing mobile operator, launching an LTE network that would compete with the big 4:

Feb. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Dish Network Corp. asked U.S. regulators to reject AT&T Inc.’s call to require the rapid construction of a wireless phone network on airwaves that Dish seeks to acquire.

Dallas-based AT&T, the second-largest U.S. wireless carrier, proposed a requirement of network coverage for 13 wireless Dish Asks Regulators to Reject AT&T Call for Rapid Network Build00 million people within 33 months.

Dish should be allowed to wait for equipment that meets an advanced standard, and building now would waste precious resources that are better spent developing a next-generation network, Blum wrote in the filing dated yesterday.

Devon Still is one of the best defensive players in the NFL draft. He was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year this past season, and hes ready to continue his success.

Tony Romowas under duress all season long. Davidwould be a perfect fit with the Cowboys.

Securing a solid offensive line is always a good idea, and Rileyis one of the best tackles in the draft.

Seattle needs a quarterback like many teams in the NFL. When you pick this high, it might be worth trying to get your quarterback of the future.

Matt Kalil will be able to help the Washington Redskins right away in his rookie season. I have him slightly sliding down my board, but I wouldnt be shocked if he goes as high as No. 2.

Miami needs to shore up many areas of its team.

Baltimore takingat this pick would be a good idea. They need wide receiver depth, as we saw last Sunday against the Patriots.

The bar offers a range of cocktails and a 13-drink list of Manhattans, including the Midnight in Manhattan (coffee infused rye, cognac, Punt e Mes, Averna, lemon oils) and the Meatpacking (The District) (bourbon, sweet vermouth, Cynar, chorizo tincture). Small bites, such as chicken liver mousse and steak tartare are also available.  The top floor of this 19th-century building has rustic exposed brick walls and is complemented with a mix of retro/modernist furnishings and vintage accents.

The bartenders here may as well swap their aprons for lab coats &8211; the beverages at Booker & Dax are made using a range of scientific techniques and high-tech gadgetry. Perhaps the most buzzed-about is the Friend of the Devil, a mixture of rye, Campari, sweet vermouth, Pernod and bitters, that is stabbed with a 1,500-degree, red-hot poker to caramelize the sugar in the booze. Sounds sweet. Also on the to-do list for the bar staff: in-house carbonation and distillation and the regular usecocktail mix of a rotary evaporator and centrifuge to mix drinks. Chilling glasses in a fridge is old news here, the range of drinkware is cooled on the spot by a shot of liquid nitrogen.
